Almost all of our classes this year made an excellent trip to the Koumakis Pastry History Museum in the center of our city. Our students had a fantastic time, as is expected for each of us when we find ourselves in a pastry shop!

The confectioner Mr. Koumakis himself took over the guided tour of the confectionary museum, informed the children about confectionary and how to choose pastries, why they should avoid colors and sugar paste, about the benefits of dark chocolate, honey instead of sugar and so many more….

We saw works of art made from icing sugar, egg whites, lemon, gelatin, and pastry colors! We also saw old pastry books, old and modern tools, materials, and also an old refrigerator, that worked with ice.

The children saw and held in their hands the fruit of the cacao tree, from which we get cocoa, from which chocolate is made, they saw Madagascar vanilla and many other ingredients used in confectionery.

But that wasn't enough for us, we had to take action! We entered the Laboratory, where Mr. Koumakis' team welcomed us with joy!

They gave us a tour of the place, showing us the tools they use, the fridges, ovens, and workbenches. Then they gave the hats they had prepared for the children with each child's name and an apron. Then we all made and decorated cupcakes and wrote our names in chocolate.
